Master of Philosophy in Epidemiology (MPhil-Epi)

Course Duration

  • The course extends for two academic years.
  • Commences July of each year.

Course Structure

  • Part I : course extends of six months to study in the subject of specialty as detailed in the syllabus
  • Part II : course extends for six months to study in the subjects detailed in the syllabus.
  • Part III : course extends for one year. Students has to complete a thesis work on a selected topic in their own specialty. Students shall produce a thesis embodying the results of his research work. A guide is to be appointed to supervise the thesis work and compile thesis according to rules as set by the University of Dhaka.
 

Eligibility

Medical
MBBS or its equivalent degree recognized by the BMDC
One year internship

Non-Medical

Masters or equivalent degree in Statistics with 2nd class (or equivalent GPA Grade) from a recognized University.

Assessment

The part I examination shall be open to any candidate who:
a) has undergone a course of study for six months in the subject at any medical college approved by the D.U.,
b) has produced the following certificates duly signed by the head of the institute where studied:
i) of good character,
ii) of having attended at least 75% of each of theoretical and practical classes as prescribed in the syllabus for the course.

The part II examination shall be open to any candidate who:
a) has previously passed the part I examination in at least two papers,
b) has undergone a course of study for six months in the subject at any medical college approved by the D.U.,
c) has produced the following certificates duly signed by the head of the institute where studied:
i ) good character,
ii) of having attended at least 75% of each of theoretical and practical classes as prescribed in the syllabus for the course.

The Final examination shall be open to any candidate who:
a) has previously passed the part I and part II examinations,
b) has completed an approved research work for at least one year at any institute approved by the D.U. and has submitted a Thesis embodying the results of that research,
c) has produced the following certificates duly signed by the head of the institute where studied:
• of good conduct,
• of having undertaken an approved research for at least one year.

Fees

Tuition fees for all MPhil Courses will be TK.2, 65,000/- (Two Lac Sixty Five Thousand) and for the all MPH courses will be TK.1, 95,000/- (One Lac Ninety Five Thousand ) only for Bangladeshi candidates. The Tuition fees may be paid in installments. Students from countries other than Bangladesh will pay tuition fees in foreign exchange equivalent to US$ 5400/ (for MPhil) and US$ 4500/ (for MPH) only. Tuition fees once deposited will not be refundable.
